Losing Weight: A journey or a struggle?
Enough (by David White)
Enough. these few words are enough.
If not these words, this breath.
if not this breath, this sitting here.
This opening to the life
We have refused
Again and again
Until now.
Until now.
Whether we are battling with weight loss or any other addiction, any starting thought to that battle is there is something not enough. Our life is focused on fixing this thought by fixating on the solution. Need to give up smoking, need to lose weight, need to drink less, need to, need to, need to…..
How ever we got ourselves to that point of ‘needing to’ do anything, we firstly need to realize that what ever is there with us right now is enough. There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with us. For some reason we have embarked on a journey that got us here.
Would we have been feeling that we were enough then we probably wouldn’t be here today reading these pages. So today we are searching the net for answers how to change our bodies, our behaviours, our thoughts. And now, that we realized that something needs to be done, we beat ourselves up over and over again. We violate the very inner core that makes us who we are, that has guided us to this point in life.
Nothing can change if we don’t begin to be gentle on ourselves. We did not make a choice to become fat or put on weight or start smoking because we felt great and inspired. We did not violate ourselves because we felt like we were enough. Or did you?
We did it for reasons that are mostly unknown to us, hidden in the deeper psyche of our minds. Thus, it does not really make sense to struggle with weight, because weight is only the result of our own struggle within.
When we sit with ourselves, become mindful of our thoughts, make friends with all the parts that we are, we can embark on a much deeper journey than just losing weight. We can recreate ourselves. Not from a point of anger and frustration but from a point of acceptance, gentleness and willingness to become the person we would like to be. Self hypnosis is just one way into mindfulness, into that part of ourselves that can observe, that can connect, that can open up to what is. We are moving towards ourself rather than towards a thinner body.
Every decision begins in the mind. Start by becoming a friend to this mind of yours. It has looked after you for many years – it’s time you start giving something back.

Until now.
Until now.
